BJP Leader Backs One Nation One Election Seminar in Odisha
In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, BJP state president Manmohan Samal shared his thoughts on why the party youth wing held a special seminar on One Nation One Election. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Samal said the event aimed to get young people and citizens thinking more about the nation’s future. "We organized this program with students to spark national pride," he added. He pointed out that the One Nation One Election debate has grown into a full-fledged movement and will keep gaining momentum.
The Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha, the BJP’s youth organization, hosted the seminar in Bhubaneswar today. It focused on the idea of holding all elections in India at the same time, a key topic in national politics.
Meanwhile, in a big update from Parliament, the Lok Sabha passed a motion on August 12 to give more time to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) reviewing the One Nation One Election Bill. This extension lets the committee submit its detailed report by the first day of the last week of the 2025 Winter Session.
PP Chaudhary, who chairs the One Nation One Election panel, moved the motion. He asked for extra time to thoroughly examine the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. These bills, introduced in the Lok Sabha back in December 2024, are now under JPC scrutiny from both Houses of Parliament.
The push for One Nation One Election has sparked lively discussions across India, with supporters saying it could save costs and boost governance. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving story from Odisha and beyond.
