Washington: The White House has confirmed that President Donald Trump will attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws at the Kennedy Center on Friday.
The United States will share hosting duties for the tournament with Canada and Mexico. After the draw, FIFA plans to release the updated match schedule for the event.
"On Friday, President Trump will attend the FIFA World Cup final draw at the Kennedy Center," said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during a briefing.
The draw event will bring together national coaches and officials from all teams that have qualified—or still have a chance—to compete. They’ll meet in Washington, DC’s renowned John F. Kennedy Center to find out who they will face as they chase world glory.
According to FIFA’s procedures, the host nations—Canada, Mexico and the USA—will be placed in Pot 1. The remaining 39 qualifiers will be divided into four pots of 12 each, based on the FIFA Men’s World Ranking released on November 19.
The two slots set aside for the 2026 World Cup Play‑Off Tournament, plus four European play‑off spots, will occupy Pot 4.
A day after the world learns the 12 novel groupings from the Final Draw, FIFA will reveal the full 2026 match schedule.
During the unveiling, FIFA President Gianni Infantino will appear on stage alongside celebrated FIFA Legends and representatives from all 42 qualified teams. The event will also announce the venues and kick‑off times for all 104 matches.
The definitive schedule will be published in March, once the FIFA and European play‑offs conclude and the final six positions are confirmed.
