Nitin Mukesh recalls first concert after father Mukesh’s demise, shares pics with Big B, Raj Kapoor

Nitin Mukesh recently shared a touching throwback that takes fans back to a tough time in his life. The veteran Bollywood singer posted a rare black-and-white photo from his very first concert after his father, the iconic playback singer Mukesh, passed away. It happened on November 10, 1976, and the picture shows Bollywood legends like Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, and composer RD Burman all there to support him.
In the caption, Nitin wrote with deep emotion: “MY FIRST CONCERT AFTER MY BELOVED PAPA LEFT US… 10TH NOVEMBER 1976….AND THEY ALLLL CAME TO WISH ME ONLY THE BEST….GRATEFUL FOREVER.” It’s a heartfelt reminder of how the industry rallied around the young singer during his grief.
Nitin Mukesh built a solid career in the 1980s and 1990s, teaming up with top music directors such as Khayyam, RD Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri, Rajesh Roshan, Nadeem-Shravan, and Anand-Milind. He lent his voice to stars like Manoj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Jeetendra, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff. His duets with legends including Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Anuradha Paudwal, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhana Sargam, and Alka Yagnik became massive hits.
Fans still love his classic Nitin Mukesh songs like “Hanste Hanste Kat Jayen Raste,” “Woh Kehte Hain Hum Se,” “My Name Is Lakhan,” “Dil Ne Dil Se Kaha,” “Is Jahaan Ki Nahin,” “Chandi Ki Cycle,” “Paisa Bolta Hai,” “Krishna Krishna,” “Jaisi Karni Waisi,” and many more, including “So Gaya Yeh Jahan,” “Kasam Kya Hoti Hai,” and “Aaja Re O Mere Dilbar.” These tracks capture the soul of Bollywood music from that era.
Tragically, Mukesh died of a heart attack on August 27, 1976, in Detroit, Michigan, while preparing for a concert in the US. His sudden loss left a huge void in Indian music, but Nitin carried on the family legacy.
Speaking of family, Nitin’s son, actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, just wrapped up his latest project. He stars in “Ek Chatur,” a fun black comedy thriller written by Himanshu Tripathi and directed by Umesh Shukla. Divya Khosla Kumar also joins the cast.
The movie unfolds in a quirky small-town India setting. It follows a clever woman who seems innocent at first but hides a sharp, cunning mind. She’s ambitious and always one step ahead, outsmarting everyone. When a big chance comes her way, she jumps in, but wild twists and hilarious dark humor keep testing her wits. If you’re into Bollywood thrillers with a comedic edge, this one looks promising.
