NFL Power Rankings for Week 7: Inconsistencies making for tight playing field

The NFL is in the thick of a mid‑season shuffle. After six games the top of the standings looks very different than last week: only 13 teams have four wins or better, and two teams—Tampa Bay and Indianapolis—are riding 5‑1 records.

League‑wide shake‑ups

Three of the league’s three most favored clubs at the start of the season—Lions, Eagles and Bills—each fell in Week 6, a shock that even the Chiefs and Ravens were unable to mask. The Ravens were the first team since 2017 to lose on the same day two of the best teams in the league. The week’s results have left many odd brackets hard to straighten out and fans wondering who will take the top spot in the next few games.

Power rankings for Week 7

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 5‑1
Despite missing key receivers, the Buccaneers sliced through the 49ers in a 30‑19 win. Tez Johnson’s first career touchdown catch and a Jamel Dean interception sealed the victory.
  2. Packers – 3‑1‑1
Green Bay capitalized on a bye week, taking the lead early against the Bengals and holding on to a 27‑18 win. Josh Jacobs won the day with two rushing touchdowns.
  3. Indianapolis Colts – 5‑1
Jonathan Taylor forced the Cardinals into a late scoring drive, buying Indianapolis a 31‑27 win. The Colts have now won six straight games at home.
  4. Detroit Lions – 4‑2
The Lions let a trick play and a costly fourth‑down miss backfire, falling 30‑17 to the Chiefs. Jameson Williams had a solid performance with six catches for 66 yards.
  5. Buffalo Bills – 4‑2
Bills’ star quarterback Josh Allen lost two late interceptions in a 24‑14 loss to the Falcons. Head coach places doubts on his second straight defeat.
  6. Philadelphia Eagles – 4‑2
A 34‑17 defeat to the Giants dropped the Eagles to the middle of the pack. Saquon Barkley’s rushing total fell from a promising start.
  7. Los Angeles Rams – 4‑2
Miami’s Lamar Jackson was missing, and the Rams shut down the Ravens in the second half to win 17‑3. Matthew Stafford sparked two touchdown drives.
  8. Seattle Seahawks – 4‑2
The Seahawks beat the Jaguars 20‑12, highlighted by Jaxon Smith‑Njigba’s eight‑catch, 162‑yard performance.
  9. Jacksonville Jaguars – 4‑2
Trevor Lawrence threw a pair of touchdowns, but the Jaguars missed a PAT and a two‑point conversion in a loss to Seattle.
  10. Kansas City Chiefs – 3‑3
Patrick Mahomes delivered a four‑touchdown explosion in a headline‑making win over the Lions. Chief’s defense remained disciplined, committing no penalties or turnovers.

Bottom of the table

The league also sees struggles: the Raiders close to a 2‑4 record, the Jets, still without a win, are 0‑6, and teams such as the Broncos, Bengals and Saints are hovering in the lower tier.

What’s next?

With the draft still early, teams are adjusting lineups and looking for the next win. Fans have plenty to discuss on social media, especially as the top teams aim to re‑establish their dominance while the mid‑table contends for playoff spots. The next round of games will knock the league deeper into the mid‑season battle and decide who may write the next chapter in the NFL Power Rankings.
