K2 Data Analytics MD Sanketh Kondur Highlights OECD’s Trends Shaping Education 2025 as a Call for Future-Ready Learning

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) just dropped its Trends Shaping Education 2025 report, spotlighting how technology, sustainability, and inequality are reshaping learning around the world. Sanketh Kondur, managing director at K2 Data Analytics, called the findings a wake-up call for education systems to keep up with rapid digital and climate changes.
The report highlights explosive growth in digital services like online learning, which are expanding at 8.1% a year and now make up 54% of all global services trade. Mobile broadband access has skyrocketed too—from just 8 subscriptions per 100 people in 2009 to 83 in 2022. Plus, more people are getting hands-on with the digital world: nearly 38% now create and share content online, up from only 10% back in 2008.
Kondur emphasized that today’s education can’t ignore digitalization or the shift to a net-zero economy. “The OECD report shows that one in five jobs worldwide is already feeling the impact of the green transition,” he said. This creates a big push for reskilling in sectors like construction, manufacturing, and transport. Yet, fewer than half of adults join formal or informal training programs, widening the skills gap. For India, Kondur sees this as both a hurdle and a golden chance. “By boosting digital access and investing in skills, we can gear up our young workforce for a thriving, future-proof economy,” he added.
The report also stresses making education inclusive, not just tech-heavy. Kondur pointed out the need to weave in digital literacy, beef up teacher training, and foster public-private partnerships so everyone benefits from innovation. “India should seize this opportunity to revamp its education and skilling systems, blending technology with human potential to drive growth,” he said.
