Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 – Odisha’s opposition leader and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief Naveen Patnaik drove a high‑profile roadshow through Khariar Road and Nuapada, rallying supporters for the upcoming Nuapada by‑poll on Nov 11. The veteran politician waved to thousands of party workers along the route and urged voters to back the BJD’s candidate, Snehangini Chhuria.
After the long march, Patnaik held a big public meeting in Parkot, Nuapada. He warned that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could not build real development on empty promises. He pointed out that under the BJD, Odisha gained big wins in education, health care, transport, drinking water and irrigation. He highlighted that the new Biju Expressway has opened economic opportunities for Nuapada and says the BJP’s work has stalled.
Patnaik accused the BJP government of failing to deliver on pledges such as free electricity up to 300 units and a Rs 3,500 pension for seniors. He also criticised the party for a urea shortage and the “Katni‑Chhatni” deduction that hurts farmers. He called the BJP’s 500‑day rule a betrayal of Odisha’s people.
Despite attempts to block his meeting in Komna on Nov 3, Patnaik thanked the crowd that turned up. He said the BJP may try lies and theft, but they can’t win hearts. The BJD leader urged voters to reject the BJP and elect his candidate, Snehangini Chhuria, on Nov 11 to stop the perceived treachery.
This campaign highlights the BJD’s push to win back local voters for a key election that could reshape Odisha’s political landscape.
