“Ayodhya has become global centre of faith and culture”: Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi

Ayodhya, the holy temple town in Uttar Pradesh, is now drawing crowds from every corner of the globe, all eager to show their faith and devotion. On Friday, Ayodhya Nagar Nigam Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi shared this exciting update while greeting Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, who visited the famous Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple earlier that day.

Tripathi beamed with pride as he told , “Ayodhya has become a global hotspot for spirituality. We’re thrilled to welcome PM Ramgoolam here. This new India is creating fresh traditions, turning Ayodhya into more than just a pilgrimage site—it’s a bridge for ancient cultural ties that we’re strengthening every day.”

The Mauritius leader didn’t come alone; Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath joined him for the temple prayers. Ramgoolam’s India trip, which kicked off on September 9 and runs until September 16, is his first big overseas visit since taking office. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally invited him for this state visit.

Before heading to Ayodhya, Ramgoolam stopped at the iconic Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. After Ayodhya, his schedule takes him to Dehradun, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The trip highlights the strong bond between India and Mauritius. On Thursday, PM Modi and PM Ramgoolam sat down in Varanasi to chat about boosting ties in key areas like infrastructure, healthcare, digital tech, energy, and maritime security. They also touched on regional and global challenges.

Modi called the visit special, saying, “Welcoming our Mauritius friends isn’t just a formal event—it’s a spiritual one. India and Mauritius aren’t mere partners; we’re family. Mauritius plays a key role in our ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the MAHASAGAR vision.”

This meeting builds on the momentum from Modi’s own trip to Mauritius in March 2025, where they upgraded their partnership to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership. It all underscores the deep cultural and people-to-people links that make India-Mauritius relations so unique.

Interestingly, Ramgoolam has history with Modi—he was the only non-SAARC leader invited to Modi’s swearing-in back in May 2014. As Ayodhya shines brighter on the world stage, visits like this show how the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and India’s spiritual heritage continue to inspire global connections.
