Candace Owens strangely accuses Erika Kirk of using BLM tactics after widow fires back at podcaster’s incoherent conspiracy theories
Candace Owens, who is often noted for her unfiltered commentary, shot down the widow’s recent address on the conspiracy theories surrounding Charlie Kirk’s death and the fate of Turning Point USA. On X she opened with the line, “It is a positively ABSURD notion that you cannot critique a 150 million dollar organization because the CEO says they are like a family, and are grieving.” She went on to say, “It is the exact same emotional strategy deployed by BLM in the wake of George Floyd’s death, when I called out their shady financial dealings.” Owens accused the widow of “missed the mark” and accused her of using the “exact same emotional strategy deployed by BLM.”
Now, for the first time publicly, Erika Kirk is taking a stand against the wave of conspiratorial claims that have flown across the internet, including those from conservative commentators such as Owens, who once considered Charlie a close friend. In the weeks following his murder, Owens suggested “betrayal,” alleged that the federal government was lying about the investigation, and even floated a possible Israeli involvement in Kirk’s killing. Since then, Owens has repeatedly targeted Erika—now CEO of the vast conservative activist organization founded by her late husband. She criticized Erika for not tackling the rumors head‑on in her new role, branding her instead as a grieving widow. After a televised interview, Owens told her listeners, “It completely missed the mark for me. I am sorry. It just has. But the good news is that she is now un‑murking the water in terms of her intentions with this massive political organization.”
