Gorakhpur family demands encounter after cattle smugglers kill NEET aspirant

Family of Slain NEET Aspirant in Gorakhpur Demands Justice and Police Encounter
In a heartbreaking turn of events in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, the family of 19-year-old Deepak Gupta, a dedicated NEET aspirant, is demanding quick action against the cattle smugglers who allegedly killed him. They want the police to go all out, even calling for an "encounter" to ensure the accused face the harshest punishment.
The incident unfolded when Deepak tried to stop a group of cattle smugglers, but they grabbed him, took him away, and brutally ended his life. This shocking crime has left his family devastated and furious over what they see as slow police response.
Gorakhpur police sprang into action on Wednesday, September 17, arresting the main suspect, Rahim Khan, after a tense encounter. Khan got injured during the clash and is now recovering in the hospital. Officers seized a pistol and a motorcycle from him—key evidence in the cattle smuggling and murder case.
But the hunt isn’t over. Police have named several other suspects and offered a reward for tips leading to their arrest. Five special teams are raiding hideouts across the area to nab the remaining culprits in this Gorakhpur murder case. Investigations are ongoing, though details remain under wraps for now.
Deepak’s mother, speaking to reporters, didn’t hold back her pain. "We want these monsters to suffer the same fate they gave our innocent son," she said. "Justice for Deepak from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath! We demand a full probe and encounters with the accused. If nothing happens soon, we’ll protest outside the police station and Gorakhnath Temple until we get answers."
Deepak’s uncle, who witnessed the horror, shared the chilling details. He was there when 6-7 smugglers in one vehicle, plus others in another, attacked. "Deepak stepped in to stop them from taking our cattle, but they dragged him away and killed him. They even pointed a gun at me, but I survived. Now, we need real justice—an encounter for them," he told .
The family feels the police took too long—four days since the attack—and they’re not satisfied with just one arrest. They want Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath to visit their home and promise strict action against the cattle smugglers. "Our boy was only 19, dreaming of becoming a doctor through NEET. We lost him forever. CM Yogi, please come and make sure these killers pay," the uncle added.
As raids continue in Gorakhpur, the family holds on to hope for swift justice in this tragic NEET aspirant murder. The community watches closely, demanding an end to such cattle smuggling violence in Uttar Pradesh.
