Adani Group to invest over $75 bn in energy transition space over next five years

New Delhi, Dec 9 (LatestNewsX) – Chairman Gautam Adani announced that the Adani Group intends to commit more than $75 billion toward the energy‑transition sector over the next five years. At the centenary of IIT (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, he highlighted how the group’s rapid renewable‑energy expansion positions it among the fastest‑growing firms worldwide. He added that the global shift to green power is emerging as the biggest industry of our era, expected to reach several trillion dollars in the coming decades, and that it will accelerate the rise of electrified manufacturing, low‑carbon steel, green fertilizers, hydrogen ecosystems, and the critical infrastructure powering AI and digital economies. While reiterating the $75‑billion investment pledge, Adani criticised a “weaponised narrative” from COP‑30 in Brazil, where a report downgraded India’s sustainability standing and blamed the country for lacking a coal‑exit timetable and continuing to auction coal blocks. He pointed out that India’s per‑capita CO₂ emissions are among the lowest worldwide and that the nation is driving the fastest energy transition ever documented. “Bharat did not heat this planet. Yet, much of the developed world now expects Bharat to cool the earth,” he said, citing figures that underscore India’s sustainability progress. The chairman noted that over half of India’s installed electricity capacity now derives from non‑fossil sources, reaching a key global benchmark ahead of schedule by five years. Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, he remarked that no other major country has reshaped its energy mix as dramatically as India has. Drawing from personal experience, Adani advised students that “success is never granted. It is mined. It is extracted.” He urged them to become Bharat’s next generation freedom fighters, helping the nation achieve economic and resource independence: “You, my young friends, are the next generation of Bharat’s freedom fighters. In this struggle … you are not just extracting resources, you are extracting sovereignty. You are not just mining minerals, you are mining dignity.”
