New Delhi, Dec 9 – The Ministry of Rural Development has green‑lit 25 fresh road schemes across Tripura as part of the PM‑JANMAN Road Connectivity umbrella. The planned stretches add up to 65.38 km and are projected to cost about ₹68.67 crore.
“This programme will give much-needed all‑weather links to 30 settlements of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs),” the ministry said. “We’re hoping the improved roads will make everyday travel safer and easier no matter the season.”
“Enhance connectivity in rural areas, bridging the gap between remote villages and urban centres,” it added.
The aim is to stitch together distant hamlets with nearby towns and cities, giving local traders a smoother path for moving goods and creating more jobs for residents. It will also help people reach hospitals, schools and local markets more reliably, which can boost health, education and income levels.
These projects fit into the larger Viksit Bharat blueprint of building a robust Northeast and steering India toward a more developed future. Officials say the new links will keep tribal communities in the northeast more integrated with mainstream economic life, bringing long‑term development benefits across Tripura.
