Patna, Dec 3 (LatestNewsX) — The decision by the central government to rename the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and several state and union territory Raj Bhavans has sparked a heated political debate nationwide. Critics from the opposition have slammed the move, and the political mood in Bihar has intensified.
During the Winter Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, senior RJD figure and MLA Bhai Virendra leveled a sharp critique at the Centre.
Addressing the press, he argued that renaming official sites would not improve the nation’s fortunes.
“Changing names will not change the face of the nation,” he said.
He went on to point out that true progress hinges on tackling unemployment, establishing factories, controlling inflation, and reducing crime—”Renaming the Prime Minister’s residence or office will not bring welfare to the people.”
Bhai Virendra warned that crime levels are at an all‑time high and urged the government to address practical concerns rather than symbolic gestures.
On the issue of bulldozer activity in Bihar, the RJD MLA urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to first secure proper support for those displaced before continuing demolition work.
Bulldozers have been active since Wednesday morning in seven districts—Patna, Gopalganj, Chhapra, Motihari, Bhagalpur, Samastipur, and Nalanda.
In Motihari, six permanent houses were razed, while in Bihar Sharif the Municipal Corporation cleared encroachments in Sohsarai, removing several roadside shops.
When reporters asked Bhai Virendra about the absence of Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav in the Assembly, he grew irate and told a journalist, “Have you gone mad?”
Yadav did not attend the Governor’s address during the joint session, a move that drew significant attention in the Assembly today. His trip to Delhi amid the session’s importance sparked widespread speculation.
In recent months, Bhai Virendra has faced several controversies. Prior to the elections, a leaked audio clip surfaced in which he allegedly threatened a secretary in the Maner Assembly constituency. The incident even reached the police station and drew widespread criticism.
