China, Russia and India emerging economies — important members of Global South: Beijing

Beijing – 8 Dec (LatestNewsX): A spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that China, Russia and India are “emerging economies” and “important members of the Global South.” He added that strong ties among the three will serve their shared interests and also help maintain peace, security, stability and prosperity across the region and around the world.
During a routine press conference in Beijing, the Minister‑Spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, reiterated China’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Russia and India. He emphasised a strategic, long‑term view of bilateral cooperation, stressing that a steady, healthy development of relations would benefit both peoples and contribute to wider global stability.
When asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to New Delhi and his remarks on China‑India relations, Guo Jiakun recounted that the shared identity of the three countries as “emerging economies” and “important members of the Global South” underpins the logic of maintaining strong links. He confirmed that Beijing remains eager to collaborate with Moscow and New Delhi to further strengthen their mutual ties.
Guo also expressed China’s willingness to approach China‑India relations strategically, ensuring long‑term cooperation that serves the interests of both nations and supports broader peace and prosperity in Asia and globally.
Putin’s two‑day state visit to India took place from 4‑5 December. The itinerary packed summit‑level talks, official ceremonies and a series of discussions covering defence, trade, energy and regional security. The President met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the India‑Russia partnership, now in its 25th year as a Strategic Partnership, and later joined the 23rd India‑Russia Annual Summit where a joint statement outlined future priorities.
A banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 5 December saw the Indian head of state describe the relationship with Russia as “steadfast for many years” and pledged its continued strengthening.
