New Delhi, Oct. 15 – The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) sealed a partnership today to give students hands‑on learning and job support. The deal was signed by CII’s chief, Chandrajit Banerjee, and GSV’s professor Manoj Choudhary at the opening session of the CII International Rail Conference 2025 and the 16th CII Indian Railways Equipment Exhibition. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who heads Railways, IT, and Broadcasting, was also there to join the ceremony.
What the partnership means
CII and GSV will work on three main areas:
- Curriculum design – Together they will create course modules and case studies that match what Indian railways and transport firms need, so students finish ready for real jobs.
- Student training – The partnership will host guest talks, workshops, and practical sessions, exposing students to day‑to‑day challenges in rail, logistics, maritime, and aviation industries.
- Internships – GSV students will gain access to internships with companies across the rail and transport sectors, giving them hands‑on experience and boosting employability.
GSV is a central university that offers courses from undergraduate to postgraduate levels in rail, transport, logistics, maritime, aviation, mechanical engineering, electronics, advanced manufacturing and sustainability.
A broader context
Earlier this year, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the impact of the PM Gati Shakti District Master Plan. The plan now covers 112 aspirational districts, aiming to streamline development for India’s blue economy and green energy. PM Gati Shakti, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2021, is a digital platform that integrates data from several ministries to boost projects in offshore wind, resource exploration and coastal infrastructure.
The CII‑GSV collaboration aligns with this national push to improve industry‑academia links and create a workforce equipped for India’s expanding railways and logistics sector.
