Patna, Bihar – The upcoming Bihar assembly elections are set to reshape the state’s future. According to Sanjay Kumar Jha, working president of the Janata Dal (United), the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the state government on November 14 under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The polls will be held on November 6 and November 11, with votes counted on the 14th. Jha told reporters, “The people are with Nitish Kumar. When the results are announced at mid‑night, the NDA will step in and Nitish will lead the new government.”
He added that the NDA will contest the elections as a united front. “The biggest issue for voters is what Bihar will look like in the next 25 years once the government takes office,” Jha said. He reminded listeners that since the liberalisation wave in 1991, many Indian states attracted IT and other investments. Over the past decade and a half, Bihar lagged behind. “Where the IT sector should have flourished, we saw projects like Charwaha Vidyalaya instead. Instead of industrial growth, the state unluckily became known for crime,” he warned.
Jha praised Nitish Kumar’s 20‑year tenure for driving progress: improved roads, power supply, law and order, and women’s empowerment. “Bihar is now in the fourth gear. The election will decide whether we shift into fifth gear or backstop,” he said.
Political parties are hard at work preparing for the polls. Jan Suraaj has already released its candidate list, while the NDA and opposition Mahagathbandhan are finalising seat distributions. The next week will set the stage for a decisive vote that will determine Bihar’s direction in the years ahead.
