Mumbai, Nov. 10 – In an outspoken move, Ranjit Savarkar – the grandson of freedom‑fighter Veer Savarkar – has taken on Congress chief Rahul Gandhi over the “Gen‑Z” debate that has lit up India’s political scene.
Savarkar said the term “Gen‑Z” is dangerous because a similar slogan helped spark Nepal’s political collapse. He warned that importing that rhetoric into India could undermine the country’s democratic foundations. “If Nepal was ruined by that mindset, we can’t bring the same mentality to India,” he told reporters.
The activist stressed that while a right to demand change is part of democracy, attempting to delegitimize a duly elected government is not acceptable. He pointed to Rahul Gandhi’s repeated use of “Gen‑Z”, saying the movement in Nepal destroyed industries, weakened governance, and pushed the nation toward instability. “This is a form of trying to topple democracy in India, and that is condemnable,” Savankar added.
He also mocked Gandhi’s campaign style, calling it a “safari” and accusing some lawmakers of inciting the youth and steering the country toward anarchy.
Turning to sports, Savarkar launched a sharp critique of the Maharashtra Boxing Association’s presidential election. He claimed the vote was conducted under false pretenses and political pressure, violating a Bombay High Court order issued on Oct. 15. According to him, the election ignored both the Boxing Federation of India’s constitution and the National Sports Authority’s guidelines. “The court clearly said elections should follow the amended constitution finalized on Oct. 12, yet the Federation ignored the process,” he said.
Savarkar also blasted the Prime Minister’s new sports policy, which aims to give Indian athletes Olympic opportunities, saying it was “crushed on paper.” He called for an investigation into those who flouted the court ruling and tampered with the election. “I will take this to the judiciary if anyone interferes politically,” he vowed.
He insisted that he is not aligned with any party and that any wrongdoing must be opposed regardless of ideology. “Sadly, no one is stepping forward,” he concluded, portraying himself as a lone voice against political destabilization and sports injustice.
