IndiGo announced on Sunday that it had set up a high‑level Crisis Management Group (CMG) after a wave of flight delays and cancellations knocked thousands of passengers off schedule. The board, led by Chairman Vikram Singh Mehta, stepped in to keep a close eye on the situation and to push operations back to normal speed. During a board meeting, the management team gave a thorough rundown of the problem’s size and scope. Afterward, the directors sat down in a separate, closed session and decided that a CMG would be the right way forward. The group is chaired by Vikram Singh Mehta and includes board members Gregg Saretsky, Mike Whitaker, Amitabh Kant, and IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers.
“The members received a detailed briefing from the Management on the nature and extent of the crisis,” the airline said in a statement. “This meeting was followed up with a session confined to only Board members at which, it was decided to set up a CMG comprising amongst others the Chairman, Vikram Singh Mehta; Board Directors, Gregg Saretsky, Mike Whitaker and Amitabh Kant, and the CEO Pieter Elbers,” the airline added.
Since forming the CMG, the group has met frequently and gets constant updates from executives about the steps being taken to steady operations. Other directors, although not on the CMG, have been kept involved through regular phone calls to cover all angles of the crisis. The airline has made it clear that the main goal of these gatherings is to fix the passenger woes and restore the network’s reliability as quickly as possible.
IndiGo is also working hard to help those affected, offering refunds for cancelled flights and waiving cancellation and re‑booking fees during this period. According to a spokesperson, the airline is leaving no stone unturned to minimise discomfort and get back to smooth running at the earliest.
