Killed six Pakistani soldiers in two attacks, claims Balochistan Liberation Front

Quetta, Dec. 27 (IANS) – In a series of assaults that took place on December 25, Baloch insurgent groups declared responsibility for attacks that left six Pakistanis dead and several others wounded.
The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) announced that its fighters opened fire on a joint Frontier Corps (FC) and police checkpoint in Surab Bazaar. According to a statement from BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the attack claimed the lives of two FC personnel and injured three more. Later that evening, BLF operatives struck a military camp in the Basol area of Ormara. A BLF sniper team first killed a soldier guarding the camp’s security post, after which a separate squad launched an assault using rocket‑propelled grenades and heavier weaponry. The group reported three additional fatalities and several wounded soldiers.
The BLF said Pakistani forces responded with machine‑gun and mortar fire, then withdrew after completing the operation. The group pledged to continue its fight, arguing that it would persist “until the mission of our martyrs is fulfilled.”
Separately, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for a grenade attack on police in Dhadar city, located in Kachhi district. BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said its fighters threw a hand grenade at a police position, inflicting “casualties and material losses” on what the group called “occupying forces.” The BRG vowed that such attacks would continue “until the freedom of Balochistan.”
People in Balochistan have long demanded independence from Pakistan. Human‑rights organizations repeatedly document repression by Pakistani security forces in the province, citing violent raids on the homes of Baloch leaders and civilians, unlawful arrests, enforced disappearances, a “kill and dump” policy, detention under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, and the filing of fabricated police cases.
