OBCs must fight their own battle instead of relying on any leader: Prakash Ambedkar

Prakash Ambedkar, leader of the Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA), has spoken out firmly about the ongoing controversy over reservation policies in Maharashtra. He urges the OBC community to step up and fight for their rights instead of waiting for politicians to do it for them.

Ambedkar made it clear that OBC groups need to take matters into their own hands. He warned that if they remain inactive, their existing reservation benefits could be at risk. “OBCs must organize protests, rallies, and meetings to demand their rights,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of pressuring OBC ministers in the government to support their cause.

Regarding the Maratha reservation issue, Ambedkar accused the government of misleading the public. The government claims that all Marathas will get reservation benefits, but Ambedkar says this is false. He pointed out that the BJP is pretending to solve the problem, but their moves are actually deceptive and irresponsible.

He explained that the Mumbai High Court’s verdict clearly states that classifying the entire Maratha community as Kunbi is wrong and cannot be accepted. Additionally, recent government orders go against the court’s decision. The Supreme Court has also struck down the Maratha reservation, making it clear that the current reservation policies are invalid.

Ambedkar clarified his party’s stance: they support reservation for the Maratha community, but not at the expense of OBC reservations. He stressed that OBC reservations should stay separate and that the government is trying to create tension between different communities for political reasons.

He reaffirmed, “OBC reservation is meant only for OBC communities. Maratha reservation should be a separate issue. The government’s attempts to mix these reservations will only cause confusion and unrest.”

This statement highlights the ongoing debate over caste-based reservations in Maharashtra and calls for OBC communities to unite and actively fight for their rights.
