PM-FME scheme helps youth launch spice brand, generate local jobs
Hazaribagh, Dec 6 (LatestNewsX) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for Aatmanirbhar Bharat and “Vocal for Local” is reshaping everyday life for millions across India.
Thanks to government programmes, many young people are not only planning brighter futures for themselves but also creating jobs for others. One story that stands out is that of Saurabh Kumar from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand.
Saurabh had once studied for civil‑service exams and cleared several of them, yet he still dreamed of building something of his own. He wanted to help lift people out of poverty by giving them a better way of life. In pursuit of that dream, he turned to the PM‑FME (Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) scheme, which supplies both financial and technical aid to small food‑processing units.
With guidance from the Industry Department, he applied and received approval. He then erected a spice‑processing plant at Indrapuri Chowk and launched his own brand, “Apna Zaayka.” Speaking to LatestNewsX, he explained that his move into spices was deliberate: he’d seen how common adulterated spices were and wanted to offer pure, hygienic, locally sourced options to his community. Today the brand has carved out a solid reputation in Hazaribagh.
Setting up the plant has boosted his earnings and created nearly a dozen jobs. The PM‑FME’s One District One Product (ODOP) arm is steering local entrepreneurs toward new opportunities, and young visionaries like Saurabh are at the forefront of this shift.
Community members applaud his work, noting how his use of a Prime Minister’s scheme has not only secured his own future but also steadied many households that now rely on the jobs he provides.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi frequently champions self‑reliance, youth entrepreneurship and local products. Saurabh Kumar’s journey illustrates how that vision can materialise right at the grassroots level.
