Netanyahu extends birthday greetings to PM Modi, highlights strong India-Israel friendship

World Leaders Shower Birthday Wishes on PM Narendra Modi as He Turns 75

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 75th birthday on September 17, and leaders from around the world joined in with heartfelt messages. From Israel to the UK and New Zealand, these greetings highlight the strong global ties India enjoys under Modi’s leadership.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu kicked things off with a warm personal note. In a video message, he called Modi his "good friend Narendra" and said, "Prime Minister Modi, my good friend Narendra, I want to wish you a happy birthday. You’ve accomplished so much for India in your life, and we have together accomplished a great deal in the friendship between India and Israel." Netanyahu added that he looks forward to meeting Modi soon to take their partnership to new heights. He wrapped up with, "Happy birthday, my friend!"

Not to be outdone, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak shared his own touching tribute. Sunak, who has deep roots in India through his British-Indian family, posted on social media: "It is a great pleasure to wish Prime Minister Modi a happy 75th birthday. In these uncertain times, we all need good friends, and Modi Ji has always been a good friend to me and to Britain." He praised the growing UK-India relationship, joking about the recent England-India cricket test series as a fun reminder of their shared bonds. Sunak also reminisced about his 2023 G20 visit to India with his wife Akshata, calling it a "superb event" that showcased India’s global standing. "Modiji, I wish you all the very best for your birthday and look forward to seeing you soon," he concluded.

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon also sent birthday cheers via a post on X (formerly Twitter) and a video message. "Kia ora, namaskar, my good friend Prime Minister Modi. Congratulations on your 75th birthday from me and all of your friends across New Zealand," Luxon said. He commended Modi’s vision to transform India into a developed nation by 2047 and expressed excitement about deeper New Zealand-India cooperation for mutual security and prosperity. Recalling his March visit to India, Luxon hoped to host Modi in return: "I hope I might be able to reciprocate the very warm hospitality you extended to me… But in the meantime, I wish you a very, very happy birthday."

These messages from Netanyahu, Sunak, and Luxon underscore Modi’s role in strengthening India’s international partnerships. As birthday greetings pour in from other global leaders too, it’s clear that Modi’s 75th marks not just a personal milestone but a celebration of India’s rising influence on the world stage.
