Dreaming again: BJP mocks Tejashwi Yadav’s claim of taking oath as CM on Nov 18

Patna, Nov 3 – With just three days left before the first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls, tempers flare as RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav openly says he will take oath as chief minister on November 18.

Union Home‑Affairs Minister Nityanand Rai laughed at Yadav’s confidence. “He’s dreaming again,” Rai said. “He did the same back in 2020, thinking he’d become chief minister for two days. That dream will never happen.”

Deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary also jabbed at the RJD leader. “People won’t accept a plan like the one Lalu Yadav pushed on Congress,” Choudhary said. “Yadav may set a date for his oath, but the voters will decide first.”

Yadav told a rally on Sunday that Biharis will hear the results on November 14 and that he expects to be sworn in on the 18th. He said the opposition alliance – the INDIA bloc – will build the new government.

The clash of words comes as the political climate heats up after the arrest of former Mokama MLA Anant Singh, a JDU candidate, for the murder of Dular Chand Yadav, a supporter of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party. Yadav said that once the INDIA coalition is in power, all criminals – “regardless of caste and religion” – would be behind bars within weeks.

The campaign is set for a high‑voltage showdown. Bihar will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.

Key terms: Bihar Assembly elections 2024, Tejashwi Yadav, RJD, BJP, Jan Suraaj Party, Anant Singh, Lalu Yadav, INDIA coalition.
