China sent two relief flights to Pakistan on Sunday, delivering crucial supplies to help families hit hard by recent floods. The shipments included 300 tents and 9,000 blankets, targeting the most affected communities, according to ARY News.

Officials gave the aid a warm welcome in Islamabad. Attendees included Federal Minister Engr. Amir Muqam, NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, and reps from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik thanked China for stepping up again. “China has reaffirmed its role as Pakistan’s steadfast friend by providing timely flood relief to communities across the country,” he said. This new aid will boost NDMA’s efforts in flood-hit areas of Punjab, ARY News reported.

Federal Minister Amir Muqam also shared his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their fast response. “This assistance will bring much-needed relief to thousands of families suffering from the floods,” he added.

Pakistan’s floods have been devastating since heavy rains and flash floods started on June 26. The NDMA reports at least 1,006 people have died, and rescue teams have saved 3.02 million others nationwide. They carried out 5,768 operations and distributed 273,524 relief items. Medical teams treated 662,098 people at 741 camps, working with provincial authorities, the Pakistan Army, and other emergency services.

Deaths hit hardest in some regions: Punjab saw 304 fatalities (including 110 children), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) reported 504, Sindh 80, Balochistan 30, Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB) 41, Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) 38, and Islamabad 9. A total of 1,063 people suffered injuries, with Punjab leading at 661.

Rescue operations focused on Punjab, evacuating 2.81 million people in 4,749 missions. Sindh rescued 184,011 in 753 operations, and K-P saved 14,317 in 211, per The Express Tribune.

The floods wrecked homes, farms, and infrastructure. Around 12,569 houses took damage—4,128 fully destroyed and 8,441 partially hit—while 6,509 livestock died. At least 239 bridges collapsed or suffered damage, along with 1,981 kilometers of roads. K-P lost 52 bridges and 437 km of roads; PoJK 94 bridges and 201 km; PoGB 87 bridges and 20 km.

Relief teams handed out tents, blankets, hygiene kits, ration bags, food packs, and gear like solar panels, de-watering pumps, and generators. They set up 1,690 camps overall: 741 medical ones that helped over 662,000 people, and 949 relief camps sheltering 152,252 individuals, The Express Tribune noted.

China’s quick flood aid to Pakistan highlights the strong ties between the two nations as recovery efforts continue amid this major natural disaster.
