Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan posted a heartfelt message on social media this evening, expressing deep sorrow over a deadly blast in Delhi that killed at least ten people and injured more than a dozen. He offered condolences to the families who lost loved ones and prayers for the quick recovery of the wounded.
The blast struck near Gate 1 of the Lal Qila metro station, turning a car into a twisted metal wreck surrounded by forensic evidence. Home Minister Amit Shah was on the scene at about 9:45 p.m., inspecting the damage and speaking with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and NIA officials before heading to L.N.J. Hospital. At the hospital he spent nearly half an hour with the injured, including a 12‑year‑old boy who suffered burn injuries and a taxi driver whose vehicle burst into flames.
Security alert levels rose across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai after the attack. Earlier in the day, the Jammu & Kashmir police foiled a trans‑state terror cell linked to Jaish‑e‑Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat‑ul‑Hind. The operation recovered 2,900 kg of explosives, two assault rifles, pistols, timers, and other weapons near Faridabad, Haryana, close to New Delhi. Seven suspects have been arrested so far.
The explosion at Red Fort, just a day before the second phase of the Bihar assembly elections, has intensified concerns about terrorism and public safety in the region. Authorities are keeping a tight grip on security as the electoral process moves forward.
