Vance jokingly suggests banning words ‘six’ and ‘seven’ after son chants grating phrase in church

Washington — Vance 2028, said parents and educators everywhere.

Even the vice president of the United States can’t escape the “six‑seven” craze that’s been driving parents and teachers crazy across the country.

During a recent church service, Vice President JD Vance joked that he’d need to carve out a tiny loophole in the First Amendment to ban the numbers after his 5‑year‑old son, Vivek, got fussy every time the pages hit 66‑67.

“Yesterday at church the Bible readings started on page 66‑67 of the missal, and my 5‑year‑old went absolutely nuts repeating ‘six seven’ like 10 times,” Vance posted to X on Tuesday. “And now I think we need to make this narrow exception to the first amendment and ban these numbers forever.”

The phrase has taken off in classrooms and playgrounds, spurring giggles from kids and headaches for adults. Children sometimes throw in a hand‑game, lifting and lowering their palms while chanting.

Some parents even dressed their children as the numbers for Halloween or tried to counter the chant with “eight, niiiine.” The obsession has become so intense that Indiana police are handing out mock “tickets” to kids caught yelling “6‑7.”

A deputy from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office explained in a social‑media clip that it’s “now against the law to use the words ‘six’ and ‘seven’ unless used in a math problem or someone’s age.”

If you’re wondering what the nonsense even means, it actually comes from a viral track by rapper Skrilla called “Doot Doot (6 7).” The repetitive chorus, which spins “six‑seven” back and forth, didn’t have an initial deep meaning—Skrilla himself said it was just a brain‑drift he threw into a song.

He filmed a clip for the YouTube channel “Genius”—which promises to break down tracks’ hidden meanings—and shared the rough cut on Instagram. “Everybody I played it for f—ked with it, but it was like, funny,” Skrilla told viewers. “I liked it, though, so I ended up leaking it on my Instagram to see what my fans thought and that sh‑t went crazy.”
