After a twisty race for American League MVP between New York’s Aaron Judge and Seattle’s Cal Raleigh, the prize will be announced in early October. He was not the one that stopped the Red Sox in the wild‑card round, but the Yankees fell in five games when they met the Dodgers in the World Series last season, a matchup that featured Judge against unanimous MVP Shohei Ohtani.
This postseason, Judge turned the page. He shunned the post‑season slump that had plagued him in the previous year and carried the Yankees by making it hard for opposing teams to keep him off the bases.
He dimmed the spotlight in the fourth inning of Game 3 against the Blue Jays, smashing a three‑run homer off the left‑field foul pole to even the score in the Bronx. His offensive spark showed that he could still be a key player in the playoffs.
