Hunter, Joe Biden pictured together for first time since leaving White House ahead of family’s Thanksgiving bash in Nantucket
Joe and Hunter Biden were out in Nantucket’s bustling downtown, carrying a caravan of grandchildren along as they shopped up a notch before Thanksgiving. The former president’s crew—Joe, Hunter, and his step‑daughter Ashley—were seen browsing fancy storefronts in the island’s upscale retail district, with Hunter’s four kids keeping pace on a Wednesday afternoon.
The photos marked the first time the two had been publicly photographed together since Joe left the White House in January. While pausing by a street‑corner fiddler, Joe casually slipped a $20 bill into the musician’s open case, and kicked up a thumbs‑up for the crowd of photographers in front of him. Hunter, in turn, gave a playful grin to the cameras as he kept his ailing dad, who had just finished aggressive prostate‑cancer radiation in late October, close by.
After the brief stroll, the group headed to Lemon Press, a chic café known for its pricey midday bites, for lunch before heading in separate directions with the security detail. When Joe moved on, Hunter wrapped an arm around his wife Melissa and led her down Main Street, with their security team giving a tight escort.
Earlier that morning, Melissa joined Ashley and Jill Biden for a Forme Barre session at Studio Nantucket. The trio of women also stopped by Lemon Press afterward for drinks, while Melissa left to find Hunter. Jill and Ashley later popped into a nearby florists, walking out with a bouquet of blue hydrangeas. That same day, the Biden ladies rounded up the former First Lady’s step‑granddaughter Finnegan and joined a 60‑minute barre class.
The family’s visits to Nantucket have become routine this year, when they are crammed into billionaire David Rubenstein’s sprawling $34‑million compound—home to their four previous Thanksgivings. Rubenstein, once a counselor for former President Jimmy Carter, later co‑founded The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest private‑equity firms. His wealth swells around $4.3 billion.
Last Thanksgiving, Joe pardoned two turkeys, “Peach” and “Blossom,” before sending them to Nantucket. This year, President Trump quipped that he re‑pardoned the same birds, calling Joe’s “autopen” that saved them “totally invalid.”
