Telangana CM urges people to elect competent leaders as sarpanches

On December 1, LatestNewsX reported that Telangana’s Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, urged voters to choose capable sarpanches who will spearhead holistic development in their villages.

The CM began district visits ahead of the three‑phase Gram Panchayat elections slated for the month. At a public meeting in Makthal, where he had laid foundation stones for various projects, he warned residents not to back parties that impede progress.

He praised Palamuru (Mahabubnagar) residents for their support of the Congress, which elected twelve MLAs, and highlighted his own election as Telangana’s second chief minister.

Reddy was critical of former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, accusing him of neglecting Palamuru during the BRS era. “This land supported KCR during the Telangana movement and elected him as Lok Sabha MP. After being elected as CM, KCR had not given even Rs 12 crore for development. Palamuru projects were not completed, and no steps were taken to complete the Kodangal – Narayanpet lift scheme,” the CM said.

He added that “people ‘s government” has begun work to finish the Palamuru project and that opposition parties have stalled progress by lodging court cases. He pointed out that 20 lakh rupees compensation has been paid to 96 percent of farmers during land acquisition and that the land for the Narayanpet–Kodangal lift scheme has now been secured.

The CM also held KCR responsible for saddling the state with an 8‑lakh‑crore debt load, while stressing that the government persists in implementing schemes despite financial challenges. He said he will personally ensure completion of Palamuru projects and provision of irrigation water.

Revanth Reddy announced a Global Summit aimed at repositioning Telangana on the right track and attracting significant investment, positioning the state as the country’s top investment destination. He reiterated goals of reaching a 1‑trillion‑dollar economy by 2034 and a 3‑trillion‑dollar economy by 2047.

On education, the CM announced plans to establish a Young India Integrated School in every constituency—fourteen in Palamuru—and to set up an IIT in the district. He expressed a vision of turning Palamuru into a national model district.

Over the past two years, the administration has launched several welfare schemes: free RTC bus travel for women, 200 units of complimentary electricity for the poor, fine rice distribution to all white ration card holders, and a waiver on farm loans. The government has spent 1.04 lakh crore on farmer welfare and is advancing women’s economic empowerment. The caste census, conducted to benefit backward communities, has positioned Telangana as the first state to sub‑categorise Scheduled Castes.
