Salman Khan gets emotional over Dharmendra’s demise: ‘Life goes on’

Mumbai, Nov. 29 — Bollywood icon Salman Khan, while hosting Bigg Boss Season 19, shared profound sorrow over the recent death of legendary star Dharmendra. He remarked that the week following the actor’s passing had weighed heavily not only on the nation but on fans and the film industry alike. Without naming Dharmendra directly, Khan said, “this week the industry faced a huge loss.” Continuing his tribute, he added, “I wish I were not hosting Bigg Boss this week, but at the end, life goes on.” For those unfamiliar, Dharmendra died on November 24 at 89. Salman was among the first to pay respects, arriving both at the crematorium on the 24th and at the family‑held prayer gathering on the 27th. The two had shared a deep bond, appearing together in Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya alongside Kajol and Arbaaz Khan. Their connection dates back over five decades, beginning when Salman’s father, Salim Khan, co‑wrote the classic Sholay with Javed Akhtar. Dharmendra’s portrayal of Veeru in Sholay remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated characters. On the day after Dharmendra’s death, key figures from cinema—Jeetendra, Rakesh Roshan, Rekha, Hrithik Roshan, Varun Dhawan, Jackky Bhagnani, Rakul Preet Singh, Ajay Devgn, and Allu Aravind—visited the Deol home to deliver their condolences. Dharmendra’s 90th birthday would have fallen on December 8 this year.
