Government of India’s IICT joins hands with Netflix & FICCI to support India’s creative Tech talent

Mumbai, Oct 7 – A new partnership is shaping India’s growing creative tech scene.
The Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) just signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Netflix and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). The deal, unveiled at the 25th edition of FICCI Frames, comes under the watchful eye of Sanjay Jaju, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting secretary.

What the partnership will bring

  • Curriculum help – Netflix will work with IICT to design a course that blends theory with the latest industry practices.
  • Real‑world learning – Students will get workshops, master‑classes and guest talks from Netflix experts and other professionals, either live or through partners.
  • Scholarships – Selected students will earn financial aid backed by Netflix and IICT.

“By teaming up with IICT and FICCI, we’re strengthening India’s AVGC‑XR sector—animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended reality,” said Mahima Kaul, Netflix India’s Director of Global Affairs. “Our goal is to give young creators the skills and support they need to drive the digital economy forward.”

Dr. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, added, “Connecting students with industry professionals is a huge step. Hands‑on experience and mentorship will help the next wave of storytellers and tech innovators rise.”

FICCI’s Chairman for the AVGC‑XR Forum, Munjal Shroff, emphasized the long‑term impact: “IICT’s new National Centre of Excellence, backed by Netflix, shows how academia, industry and policy can create a vibrant ecosystem. This collaboration will turn India into a global creative‑tech hub and open new career pathways for our youth.”

Why it matters

India’s creative technology market is booming, and networks like this give students a clear route into high‑paying jobs in animation, gaming, and virtual reality. With real‑world training, scholarships, and a curriculum built by a global streaming giant, the partnership is set to become a cornerstone for India’s digital future.
