Ministry of Minority Affairs to hold one-day regional meeting with Southern Waqf Boards in Bengaluru

The Ministry of Minority Affairs will host a one‑day regional meeting in Bengaluru on Oct. 6 to bring together Waqf Boards from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Senior officials from each state’s Minority Welfare Department will attend.
The focus of the meeting is to strengthen Waqf Boards and improve how Waqf properties are managed through the newly launched UMEED Central Portal. The portal is part of the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) Act, which the federal government enacted in April 2025.
Since the UMEED portal went live in June, all Waqf Boards nationwide must upload detailed information on their properties within six months. The portal uses a three‑tier system—maker, checker, and approver—to keep data accurate, transparent and accountable.
During the Bengaluru gathering, officials will review upload progress, tackle any implementation hurdles and discuss ways to give Waqf institutions even more power. The ministry will also collect feedback from state representatives to streamline operations and boost coordination among the boards.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs says it is committed to modernising Waqf administration and unlocking the full developmental potential of Waqf properties for the benefit of minority communities across India.
