Srinagar – 25 November (LatestNewsX) – The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) dismantled a ‘Charas’ supply network in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, taking three individuals into custody.
According to an official statement, the NCB Srinagar Zone took down a drug‑distribution cell operating along the Baramulla–Pulwama corridor, seizing 2.730 kg of charas and arresting three suspects, including the main smuggler.
The agency added that, following targeted intelligence, a squad from NCB Srinagar raided the house of Bashir Ahmad Malla, a Dhobiwan resident linked to Kunzer Police Station in District Baramulla, and confiscated 2.730 kg of charas from his possession on 20 November.
“During prolonged questioning and swift action, aided by Baramulla Police at Kunzer Police Station, the NCB team nabbed Mansoor Ahmad Wani, a Dhobiwan resident within the same jurisdiction, a key player in the supply chain,” it said.
The statement highlighted that NCB Srinagar values the robust collaboration and prompt aid from Baramulla Police, whose proactive support proved essential for the operation’s success and bolstered inter‑agency cooperation.
“Building on information from the arrested suspects and new operational intel, the main supplier, Abdul Rashid Dar, was caught in Pulwama, exposing the entire trafficking network,” the agency added.
It further mentioned that each accused had prior convictions linked to NDPS offenses. By detaining the mastermind, his sidekick, and the supplier, the whole unit that handled procurement, transport, and distribution of the seized drugs has been brought down.
“Investigations are continuing to trace back‑and‑forth links, money trails, and any cross‑state connections,” it continued.
The statement noted that setting up an NCB office in Srinagar aligns with the Indian Government’s strategy to reinforce drug‑control operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
“NCB urges civilians to back the anti‑drug campaign. Individuals can share tips about narcotics trafficking anonymously via the MANAS – National Narcotics Helpline at Toll‑Free 1933. Caller anonymity is strictly maintained,” the statement concluded.
