NDA to elect legislative party leader today as Bihar prepares for Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in

Politics in Bihar heats up as the BJP and JD(U) gear up for key meetings on Wednesday. The agenda is clear: a joint NDA legislative‑party session will follow, where Nitish Kumar is set to become the alliance’s official leader.

The day will start with the JD(U) flyers meeting at 11 a.m. at Minister Shravan Kumar’s home, while a separate BJP session will take place at the party’s state headquarters in Patna. After these two gatherings, the NDA will convene in the Central Hall of the Assembly. There, Nitish Kumar will be formally elected as the NDA legislative‑party leader. He will then head to Raj Bhavan to declare that he will form the new government.

The oath‑taking ceremony is scheduled for 20 November, when Nitish Kumar will take the oath for the tenth time as Bihar’s Chief Minister, a historic milestone in the state’s politics.

Both state and national leaders will attend this grand event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from other states, senior NDA figures, and other dignitaries are expected to be present.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar already inspected the venue last Tuesday. He arrived with key NDA leaders—Samrat Chaudhary and Nitin Naveen—and key bureaucrats, including Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, DGP Vinay Kumar, Patna District Magistrate Tyagarajan S.M., and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma. Together, they are ensuring the ceremony runs smoothly and with grand spectacle.

NDA leaders anticipate about three lakh people will attend the swearing‑in. The preparations are in full swing to welcome the crowd and celebrate Bihar’s political journey.
