
Bollywood star Rani Mukerji shared a sweet hug with director Ayan Mukerji at the Durga Puja celebrations in Mumbai, capturing the strong family ties that shine during the festival.
The moment unfolded at the vibrant North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal, where Rani, Ayan, and other relatives gathered to seek blessings from Goddess Durga. As they chatted and held hands, their smiles lit up the festive atmosphere. Rani, known for her role in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” turned heads in a stunning red saree, accessorized with bold earrings, a matching necklace, and bangles. She kept her look elegant with a neat bun and minimal makeup. Ayan matched the vibe perfectly in a red kurta and white pyjamas.
Cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji kept up their beloved tradition of kicking off Durga Puja together. This year, they joined Tanishaa Mukerji to inaugurate the pandal, sharing joyful moments with Ayan too. The event brought the whole Mukerji family closer amid the colorful rituals and music.
For Ayan, this marked his first Durga Puja since the loss of his father, veteran actor Deb Mukherjee. Known as Debu Kaka in the family, Deb helped organize the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja every year and was a fixture at the pandal.
Tanishaa opened up to about the mixed emotions this time around. “It’s a period of some sadness for our family, mixed with excitement,” she said. “We’ve lost three loved ones this year, including our Debu Kaka who always organized Durga Puja. It feels tough to be here without him, but we’re excited to carry forward his dream.” Despite the grief, the celebrations go on, honoring traditions and family legacy in true Bollywood spirit.
