Rajasthan Guv accepts resignation of RPSC member Manju Sharma after court’s remarks in SI paper leak case

Rajasthan Governor Accepts RPSC Member Manju Sharma’s Resignation Amid Paper Leak Controversy
In a key development in Rajasthan’s recruitment scandal, Governor Haribhau Bagde accepted the resignation of Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Manju Sharma on Monday. This comes after the Rajasthan High Court slammed RPSC officials over the 2021 Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment paper leak case.
Sharma handed in her resignation two weeks back, right after the court’s sharp criticism. The Raj Bhavan confirmed the acceptance through an official statement, highlighting the growing troubles in the state’s top recruitment body.
During a hearing on the SI exam issues, the High Court’s single bench questioned the involvement of RPSC members. The court pointed out that accused Ramuram Raika reportedly met RPSC Chairman Sanjay Shrotriya, Acting Chairman Jaswant Rathi, and members like Sangeeta Arya, Manju Sharma, and Babulal Katara. Raika allegedly sought help to boost his children’s exam results. Shockingly, the court mentioned that Raika’s daughter got a passing recommendation in her interview after her photo was shared beforehand.
Just two days after these remarks, Sharma stepped down. In her resignation letter to the Governor, she said, "I have spent my entire professional and personal life working with transparency and honesty. Due to the controversy that arose in a recruitment process, my personal reputation and the dignity of the Commission have been affected. No case or investigation is pending against me, nor have I ever been an accused. Yet, upholding the dignity and transparency of the Commission, I am voluntarily resigning."
Sharma joined RPSC in October 2020 under the Congress government. Her six-year term was set to run until October 14, 2026, but she quit over a year early, leaving the commission in a tough spot.
This resignation adds to the RPSC’s woes, especially with ongoing investigations into the 2021 SI recruitment paper leak. Now, six out of 10 member posts sit vacant, with only four members left besides the Chairman. Earlier, another member, Babulal Katara, faced suspension in the same case, and his dismissal proposal remains pending.
The RPSC vacancy crisis in Rajasthan raises big questions about fair recruitment processes and the body’s ability to handle exams without leaks. As probes continue, eyes are on how the state will fill these gaps and restore trust in public service hiring.
