Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has big plans for Marathwada’s growth. Speaking on Marathwada Mukti Sangram Day, he promised the government will push hard in key areas like industry, jobs, IT, farming, and infrastructure to boost the region’s progress.
Fadnavis hoisted the flag and paid respects at a memorial before sharing his vision. He expressed strong faith in the Mahayuti government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to keep delivering welfare and development for Marathwada.
He highlighted quick action on decisions from a 2023 state cabinet meeting held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. “We’re turning this city into India’s EV capital,” Fadnavis said, pointing to major investments.
The government has greenlit a Rs 2,700 crore project to supply drinking water to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar residents. Thanks to the Samruddhi Highway and Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, the city is now a hotspot for investors. “Hyundai’s big investment here proves it,” he added.
Fadnavis shared exciting updates on jobs and transport. The Latur railway coach factory is almost ready, set to create 14,000 jobs. A long-dreamed railway line from Ahilyanagar to Beed is finally taking shape. Development isn’t just in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar—it’s spreading across Marathwada.
Tackling the region’s water woes head-on, the chief minister announced steps to end droughts. Water from Krishna valley now flows to Marathwada. In phase two, floodwater from Sangli and Kolhapur will reach Ujani reservoir to improve supplies. Plus, 54 TMC of water from Ulhas valley is coming soon. For the Godavari valley’s water shortage, the government aims to deliver to every farmer. “We’ll prepare the detailed project report by December and start tenders in January-February next year,” he assured.
On cultural and social fronts, Fadnavis listed key initiatives. The government allocated Rs 61 crore for Grishneshwar Temple, Rs 541 crore for Tuljabhavani Temple, and approved the Aundhya Nagnath plan. Under the Manav Vikas Program, 94 buses went to one area, and 115 to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
For community support, 916 new Anganwadis are up and running. They’ve formed 26,500 self-help groups, linking 2.70 lakh women. Rs 95 crore flowed under the Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Adarsh Shala Yojana for better schools. Another Rs 253 crore supports monuments, temples, and roads worth Rs 3,121 crore that are already underway.
Infrastructure gets a boost too: Projects worth Rs 7,719 crore are rolling in Hybrid Annuity mode. The Beed Zilla Parishad building is 70% done. Out of four lakh irrigation wells, 30,000 are complete, and work started on 1.14 lakh more. “That 2023 cabinet wasn’t just talk—every decision is turning into real action,” Fadnavis emphasized.
In a heartfelt note, the chief minister paid tribute to those who lost lives in recent heavy rains. He vowed quick help for rain-affected families and stood firm with farmers and villagers hit by the floods. Marathwada’s bright future looks closer than ever under this push for all-round development.
