HM Amit Shah vows to expel infiltrators from Bihar’s Seemanchal region

Amit Shah, India’s Home Minister, fired a blistering critique of the Grand Alliance leaders on Saturday at a rally in Banmankhi, Purnea. He accused Rahul Gandhi’s and Lalu Yadav’s allies of sheltering immigrants in Bihar’s Seemanchal region on the Bangladesh border and promised to purge them.

Shah appealed to voters in the Seemanchal area—Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar—to support a crackdown on “illegal entrants.” He warned that these infiltrators were stealing jobs, diverting food rations meant for the poor and threatening national security. He added that the government would “completely demolish the encroachments” made by them and restore the land to local residents.

The Home Minister reiterated the BJP’s long‑standing claim that Seemanchal’s proximity to Bangladesh, coupled with a sizable Muslim population, makes it vulnerable to cross‑border migration. Elections in this region will take place on November 11.

Shah also struck at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the party that has ruled Bihar for the past 15 years under Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi. He described their era as one of “jungle raj” marked by murder, looting, extortion and kidnapping. He urged voters that choosing the NDA, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, would prevent a return to that chaos.

Highlighting the RJD’s candidate nominations, Shah warned that the party’s support for former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin’s son was unacceptable. He declared that no one connected to the “Shahabuddin” name would be allowed to contest elections in Bihar.

Shah described the upcoming polls as a showdown between “two camps”: the “scattered alliance of thugs” and the “NDA,” which he likened to the Pandavas of mythology. He claimed that the first phase of voting had already wiped out the Lalu‑Rahul camp, and projected the NDA would win over 160 seats, paving the way for a developed Bihar.

In closing, Shah touched on the Ayodhya dispute, tracing its history from a Mughal demolition in 1528 to successive obstructions by the British, Congress and Lalu Yadav. He celebrated the 2024 consecration of the Ram temple, stating that it re‑affirms the nation’s devotion and unity.

He also linked the BJP’s achievements to Bihar’s own heritage, announcing a new temple for Goddess Sita in Sitamarhi. Funded at ₹850 crore, the Sita temple is slated to be completed within two and a half years, further boosting the state’s cultural profile.
