US President Donald Trump has vowed to throw the book at the man accused of brutally murdering Indian national Chandra Nagamallaiah in Dallas, Texas. In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump promised that the suspect will face first-degree murder charges and get the maximum punishment under the law.
Trump called the killing a shocking tragedy, pointing out that Chandra, a respected 50-year-old businessman, was beheaded with a machete right in front of his wife and son outside a motel in East Dallas. The attack happened early on September 10 after an argument, according to local police reports. “This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment,” Trump wrote, slamming former President Joe Biden for letting the suspect back into the US. He claimed Cuba refused to take the man back, and under Biden’s watch, he was released despite his dangerous history.
The accused, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, is a Cuban migrant in the country illegally with a long criminal record. He’s now charged with capital murder and locked up in Dallas County Jail. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has slapped a federal detainer on him, meaning he’ll face deportation proceedings if convicted. Trump praised his administration team, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Border Czar Tom Homan, for cracking down on illegal immigrant criminals. “The time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch! We’re making America safe again,” he added.
This horrific case has sparked fresh outrage over US immigration enforcement and border security, especially with the suspect’s prior arrests. The Indian Consulate General in Houston is standing by the family, offering full support and keeping a close eye on the investigation. They issued a statement mourning Chandra’s death: “We condole the tragic loss of Mr. Chandra Nagamallaiah, an Indian national killed brutally at his workplace in Dallas. We are in touch with the family and providing all possible assistance.”
As the trial looms, many are watching how this plays out in the heated debate on illegal immigration in America.
