Maharashtra is best state for investment with conducive ecosystem: CM Fadnavis

Mumbai’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted Maharashtra’s strengths as India’s top industry-friendly state during the India-Australia Forum’s Global Leaders Meet on Thursday. Speaking at a round table conference, he emphasized how the state offers a welcoming ecosystem for investments and businesses, making it the best spot for entrepreneurs to thrive.

Fadnavis pointed out that Maharashtra excels in ease of doing business, creating a smooth environment for new ventures. “Our government is always ready to meet the needs of investors and entrepreneurs,” he said. To boost this, the state is rolling out fresh, comprehensive policies for 14 key sectors, including the vital service sector that drives economic growth.

A big highlight is the MAITRI portal, a one-stop online platform designed to help entrepreneurs get all permissions quickly without hassle. “We’re working hard to ensure a great experience for anyone investing in Maharashtra,” Fadnavis added. The government is also pushing improvements in ease of doing business, introducing innovative investment ideas and building a vast network of expressways.

He spotlighted major projects like the Vadhavan port, which will position Maharashtra as a powerhouse in maritime trade. “Key areas across the state will connect to the port within a six-hour drive, opening up huge opportunities in sewage management, processing, solar energy, and infrastructure,” Fadnavis said. He urged Australian industries to jump in and invest in these sectors.

Pune is getting a major upgrade too, with a new airport set to speed up the city’s development. Plus, fresh infrastructure for quick transportation is in the works. “We’re making positive moves to support industries and investors,” the Chief Minister noted.

Before the conference, Fadnavis chatted with invitees and industry reps, praising Australia’s leadership in education. “So many Indian students head there for studies,” he said. He shared exciting plans like bringing quality education to Edu City in Navi Mumbai. There’s also a new agreement between Kurnool University and Gondwana University to offer technical training in mining. This will boost the iron industry in Gadchiroli district, turning it into India’s iron capital.

The event saw Marketing Minister Jayakumar Rawal, Australian High Commissioner Philip Green, Industries Department Secretary P. Anbalagan, and reps from various industries in attendance.

On a lighter note, Fadnavis shared on X about meeting Australian cricket legend Steve Waugh at the forum. “Thanked him for the special gift – ‘The Spirit of Cricket – India’ book with 220 photos capturing cricket’s journeys across India. It truly celebrates the shared passion between our nations,” he posted.

These steps show Maharashtra’s commitment to attracting global investments, especially from partners like Australia, and fostering growth in sectors like infrastructure, education, and maritime trade.
