Exciting Lineup for IGPL Invitational NCR at Jaypee Greens
Golf fans in India, get ready for some thrilling action! The second event of the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) kicks off at Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, from September 17 to 19. This 54-hole tournament boasts a massive Rs 1.5 crore prize purse, with the winner taking home Rs 22.50 lakhs. After Gaganjeet Bhullar’s stunning victory last week in Chandigarh, he’s back aiming for back-to-back wins to launch the IGPL Tour with a bang.
Joining Bhullar are top stars like three-time Asian Tour winner Shiv Kapur and rising talent Karandeep Kochhar. Kapur, who grabbed India’s last Asian Games gold in golf back in 2002, is pumped about the event. "The IGPL is a huge step forward for Indian golf," he said. "It creates real opportunities. What we saw in Chandigarh—young pros like Veer Ganapathy, Kartik Singh, and Raghav Chugh mixing it up with established players like Gaganjeet— that’s the future. These kids will learn fast while challenging the pros."
Kochhar, who skipped the first IGPL event due to Asian Tour commitments, is making his debut here. He’s in top form, finishing T-18 at the Indonesia Pro-Am on the Asian Development Tour and T-14 at the Mandiri Open—both times as the best Indian performer. Last year, he was runner-up at the Asian Tour Indonesian Masters, which Bhullar won. "I’m excited to finally join the IGPL," Kochhar shared. "I’ve been competing on the Asian Tour and ADT, so this feels like a fresh start."
The field features 54 players: 36 pro men, 12 pro women, and six talented amateurs. Among the highlights is legendary Simi Mehra, a former LPGA star who still dominates the Seniors Circuit in the US. She’s ready to compete fiercely once again.
Young guns from last week’s event are returning strong. Veer Ganapathy, who finished third on his pro debut, Kartik Singh (T-8), Neil Jolly (T-6), Raghav Chugh (T-20), and Krish Chawla (T-22) all want another shot at glory. Kartik, fresh off his pro debut, even notched the IGPL’s first hole-in-one during practice on the 7th hole at Jaypee Greens, alongside Vihaan Reddy and Sachin Baisoya.
On the women’s side, India’s top pros Amandeep Drall and Sneha Singh are teeing off as they gear up for next month’s Hero Women Indian Open on the Ladies European Tour. Amandeep finished T-39 last week, while Jahanvi Bakshi led the women in 19th. Sneha makes her IGPL debut. Other recent WGAI Hero Women Pro Golf Tour winners joining them include Jasmine Shekar and new pro Heena Kang, who won her second pro event in Bengaluru last month and placed T-29 in Chandigarh.
IGPL Tour CEO Uttam Singh Mundy is thrilled with the mix. "Seeing stars like Kapur, Kochhar, and Simi Mehra team up with youngsters while Bhullar puts on a masterclass is exactly what IGPL aims for," he said. "The response to Chandigarh was incredible, and it’ll only grow as we hit other Indian cities."
Tournament host Gaurav Ghei, a three-time Asian Tour winner and the first Indian to play The Open, praised the young talent. "These kids play so much golf and fearlessly take on the pros—it’s amazing to watch."
The amateurs add fresh energy: Neil Jolly (T-6 last week), Jashan Ganapathy (brother of Veer), Arshvant Srivastava (multiple Top-10s in US Kids events worldwide), Ananyaa Sood (wins in UAE juniors and T-11 at R&A Girls Amateur Under-16 in England), plus Vihaan Reddy and Ayan Dubey.
