Bhopal, Nov 14 – After the Bihar Assembly polls finished, top Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders Jitu Patwari and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh rushed to the headlines. They blasted the NDA’s win and said it shows a pattern of cheating that Rahul Gandhi warned about a week before the vote.
Rahul Gandhi had visited Pachmarhi on Nov 8‑9 and called out the “Special Intensive Revision” (SIR) of voter rolls. He claimed the SIR let the government delete and add votes to cover up irregularities seen in earlier states like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Now, the Bihar result, his critics say, proves his point.
“Bihar’s outcome is a direct result of the SIR process,” Patwari said. “The Election Commission’s credibility is under serious question, and Congress has highlighted this repeatedly.” Digvijaya Singh added the vote count was skewed. “Six‑point‑two million votes were deleted, two million were added, and half a million votes were cast without the proper SIR form,” he detailed. “The deletions hit poor, Dalit, and minority voters. There is still distrust about EVMs.”
The former chief minister urged Congress to keep its focus on the ground. “Today’s elections are won by talking to voters at the booth, not by big rallies,” he said. Singh called for a stronger grassroots organization and closer contact with voters.
The BJP‑led NDA is enjoying a huge majority across India, but Congress’s charges call attention to possible manipulation of voter rolls and the integrity of the election process. The community now watches how the election officials respond to these allegations and whether the outcomes can stand.
