Punjab Police Crack Down on Goldy Brar Gang: Arrest Arms Supplier with Five Pistols
In a big win for Punjab’s fight against organized crime, the state’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has nabbed a key associate of the notorious foreign-based gangster Goldy Brar. Officers recovered five .32 bore pistols and 10 cartridges from the suspect’s possession. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared this update on Sunday in Chandigarh.
The arrested man is Baljinder Singh, also known as Rainch, from Mahi Nangal in Bathinda. He has a shady past, including a case under the NDPS Act for drug-related offenses. DGP Yadav revealed that Rainch played a major role in supplying illegal firearms to the Goldy Brar gang. Their goal? To stir up trouble and disrupt peace in Punjab, the border state that’s often in the crosshairs of such gangs.
Early probes show the weapons came straight from Goldy Brar’s orders. His close aide, Malkit Singh alias Kitta Bhani—who’s currently behind bars in Kapurthala Jail—helped arrange the supply. Police are digging deeper to uncover the full network behind this arms smuggling operation in Punjab.
Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Promod Ban gave the lowdown on how the bust went down. AGTF teams, led by DSP (Bathinda Range) Jaspal Singh, got solid tips from human sources and tech intel. They learned the Goldy Brar gang was plotting a major crime in the state. Without wasting time, the officers swooped in and caught Baljinder Rainch hiding under a flyover bridge in Malout, Muktsar Sahib district.
A case is now registered against him under Sections 25 and 25(7)(8) of the Arms Act at the Malout police station. This arrest is part of Punjab Police’s ongoing crackdown on illegal arms supply and gangster activities.
Just last week, Amritsar Commissionerate Police made another strong move. They arrested three people tied to a cross-border network smuggling arms and hawala money. DGP Yadav had earlier said this gang used drones to bring in heroin and weapons from Pakistan. They had a strong foothold in Punjab’s border areas.
Investigations point to two of the arrested—Harpreet Singh and Gurpal Singh, who once fled to Malaysia—as links to international smugglers. Punjab Police’s relentless efforts are shaking up these criminal networks, and more revelations could be on the way as probes continue.
