Congress slams BJP over X location glitch

On Thursday, the Congress stepped onto the stage at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in New Delhi to lay sharp accusations at the BJP, calling its response to a recent bug on X “blatant lies” and “sheer hypocrisy.” The glitch briefly misidentified user locations, including those of opposition leaders, and the party’s social‑media chief, Supriya Shrinate, said the BJP had deliberately staged a controversy to distract voters from heavier issues such as “vote chori” (vote theft), the deaths of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and electoral‑roll manipulation.

Shrinate pointed out that X and its product head had already explained the error as a technical hiccup that was being fixed, yet the BJP still branded Congress figures “anti‑national” over a glitch that also affected their own accounts. She argued that the real purpose was to silence the growing online outrage over problems largely ignored by mainstream media, including the 26 BLOs who died in the last 20 days from extreme work pressure during a Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, as well as other national and international concerns.

She also raised questions about the astonishing 93 percent strike rate of the ruling alliance in Bihar after twenty years in power, calling it clear evidence of “vote chori,” and slammed the Election Commission for its silence over Maharashtra discrepancies. Shrinate added that the BJP seemed rattled by the questions raised on social media and that the “foreign location” drama was a cheap trick to discredit those voices. Earlier, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera explained that many officials use VPN services, which can also produce location mismatches. The party pledged to keep exposing what it calls the BJP’s diversion tactics while demanding accountability for electoral transparency and alleged voter‑list manipulation.
