Myanmar shook from a magnitude 3.6 earthquake late Tuesday night, the latest in a series of tremors hitting the region. The National Centre for Seismology reported the quake struck at 3:01 a.m. Indian Standard Time on October 1, 2025. It centered at latitude 22.94 N and longitude 93.86 E, with a depth of 80 kilometers.
This comes just a day after a stronger magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled Myanmar on September 30, 2025. That one hit at 6:10 a.m. IST, at latitude 24.73 N and longitude 94.63 E, but at a shallower depth of only 15 kilometers. Experts note that shallower quakes like this one often lead to stronger surface shaking and more aftershocks.
No immediate reports of damage or injuries have surfaced from either event, but residents in Myanmar should stay prepared for potential seismic activity in the area. The country sits in a seismically active zone, making earthquakes a regular concern for locals.
