In Rawalpindi, Pakistan, the high-profile Toshakhana 2 case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi is heating up. The next hearing kicks off on Monday at Adiala Jail, as reported by ARY News. Special Judge Central Islamabad Shah Rukh Arjumand will lead the proceedings in a closed-door session.
Both Imran Khan, the PTI founder, and Bushra Bibi are expected to show up in court. This case has gripped the nation, focusing on claims that the couple kept a luxurious Bulgari jewellery set worth PKR 75.66 million. The gift came from a diplomatic trip to Saudi Arabia, but they allegedly didn’t return it to the official Toshakhana repository as required by law.
Prosecutors say this led to an undervaluation that cost the national treasury PKR 32.85 million. So far, they’ve recorded statements from 16 witnesses, with cross-examinations wrapped up for 15 of them. The upcoming session could see more grilling of key figures, like Syed Inam Shah, Imran Khan’s former personal secretary.
On the defence side, top lawyers including Salman Safdar, Qausain Faisal, and Mufti Arshad Tabrez will fight for the couple. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), led by Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, represents the prosecution.
Just a quick note: An earlier hearing planned for Adiala Jail got cancelled, and Imran Khan’s lawyer Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry was informed by the judicial team. Stay tuned as this Imran Khan Toshakhana case unfolds—it’s a big story in Pakistan politics.
