Tragic Explosion at Chaman Border Taxi Stand Kills 5 in Pakistan’s Balochistan

A devastating explosion rocked a busy taxi stand in Chaman, a key border city in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, claiming at least five lives and injuring three others. The blast happened on September 19, as reported by Geo News, sending shockwaves through the region already grappling with rising violence.

Local authorities revealed that the explosion occurred when hidden explosives in passengers’ luggage detonated at the crowded stand near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Emergency teams quickly rushed the victims to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Chaman for urgent treatment. Officials have kicked off a full investigation to uncover how the attack unfolded and who was behind it.

Security forces wasted no time—they sealed off the area and launched a probe into the explosion’s nature and motives. The Balochistan Home Department issued a strong statement, vowing tough action against anyone supporting terrorism in the province. "We won’t let these elements disrupt peace," they emphasized.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the Chaman blast in the strongest terms. He expressed deep sorrow for the lives lost and prayed for a quick recovery for the injured. Sharif ordered top-notch medical care for the victims and insisted that the culprits face justice. "Those stirring unrest in Balochistan are enemies of its progress and prosperity—their evil plans will fail," he declared.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, offering heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and promising full government support in this tough time.

This tragic incident in Chaman unfolded on the same day as another attack in Balochistan’s Kalat Mangocher Bazaar, where a hand grenade blast injured two people. Tensions have been mounting in the province lately. Just two days before, an IED explosion in Kech district killed five soldiers, including a captain, highlighting the growing security challenges in Balochistan.

As investigations continue, the focus remains on bringing stability to this volatile region and ensuring safety for its people. Stay tuned for updates on the Chaman explosion and Balochistan violence.
