The Indian embassy in Doha worked hand‑in‑hand with the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) to bring a senior citizen safely back to India after he suffered a stroke in the air.
The man was on a flight from the United Kingdom to India when he experienced a medical emergency mid‑flight. He was diverted to Doha, where he was admitted to Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) for treatment.
Embassy officials say the ICBF team—volunteers, doctors and paramedics—offered continuous care throughout his stay. The embassy also coordinated with an insurance company and got him a fitness certificate so he could fly home, then helped him navigate airport immigration.
“We thank the ICBF volunteers, the medical staff at HMC and Qatar Airways for making this humanitarian mission possible,” the embassy added.
Meanwhile, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is in Qatar on a business trip. He is meeting Qatari leaders to strengthen trade ties, and he will co‑chair a Qatar‑India Joint Commission on Trade and Commerce meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani.
The minister’s visit underscores continued cooperation between India and Qatar in trade and business.
