In Srinagar, an Indo-Australian team led by Sajid N Saiyed, Chairman of Bharat CSR Network, met Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday. They shared exciting plans for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects to boost sustainable development in the region.
The group pitched several key ideas, like building 10 Smart Villages, setting up Artificial Intelligence (AI) Labs, launching a Waste-to-Wealth program for eco-friendly practices, tackling Water Remediation Projects, constructing Community Centres, and offering rehabilitation help for flood victims. These steps aim to empower local communities and drive inclusive growth.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha gave a warm welcome to the proposals. He praised the delegation’s dedication to community empowerment and sustainable development in Jammu and Kashmir. Sinha promised full support from the administration to make these CSR initiatives a reality, highlighting the rising interest from national and international partners in the area’s socio-economic progress.
Earlier that day, Sinha joined a Swachta Drive at the iconic Dal Lake as part of the Sewa Parv initiative, all in line with the Viksit Bharat vision for a developed India. At the event, he stressed Dal Lake’s vital role as the heartbeat of Jammu and Kashmir—a symbol of the region and a lifeline for many locals’ livelihoods.
“We all know Dal Lake matters more to our people than to itself,” Sinha said. “It’s not just a government job to keep it clean; every citizen shares the moral duty to serve and protect it, along with other water bodies.” He pointed out ongoing efforts by the Lake Conservation and Management Authority, including linking all houseboats to sewage treatment plants.
Sinha also shared updates on big projects under the Prime Minister’s Development Package. The Rs. 212 crore Integrated Management of Dal and Nagin Ecosystem project is now underway. Plus, a new Rs. 306 crore sewage treatment plant is in the works to ensure cleaner waters for the future.
