Tejashwi Yadav, the fiery leader of Bihar’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), took a bold swing at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during a rally in Samastipur on Saturday. Speaking as part of his ongoing Bihar Adhikar Yatra, Yadav predicted that the state’s frustrated youth would finally topple Kumar’s 20-year grip on power in the next Bihar Assembly elections.
“The youth have blown the horn of revolution,” Yadav declared to the cheering crowd. “They’re ready to stand on one foot to boot out this government. And if the Election Commission or its crooked system tries any vote rigging in Bihar—the cradle of democracy—the people won’t let them get away with it.”
Yadav didn’t stop there. He slammed the Nitish Kumar-led JD-U government for cracking down on jobless protesters. “Police are beating up Bihar Public Service Commission teacher hopefuls, contractual workers, and anyone demanding jobs with lathis,” he charged. Youth unemployment in Bihar has become a hot-button issue, fueling anger among young voters as polls approach.
Looking back, Yadav touted the successes of the short-lived Grand Alliance government, where he served as deputy chief minister. “In just 17 months, we delivered 500,000 government jobs, made contractual workers permanent, and added another 350,000 jobs—before Nitish flipped back to the NDA,” he said.
If his RJD comes to power, Yadav promised big changes to tackle job creation in Bihar. “Every degree holder will get a job or solid opportunity,” he vowed. His catchy slogan? “Certificate Lao, Naukari Pao”—bring your certificate, get your job. He pledged to build factories across Bihar, put tools in every hand, and create real employment for the youth.
But Yadav saved some sharp barbs for national leaders too. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ignoring Bihar’s needs. “Modi asks for Bihar’s votes but sets up factories in Gujarat, not here,” Yadav said. Turning to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Yadav recounted a recent threat during Shah’s Bihar visit. “He warned that Bihar will back the NDA so hard, I’ll forget about running for office,” Yadav quoted.
Not one to back down, Yadav fired back: “Tell Amit Shah this is Bihar, and we’re Biharis. We won’t be scared. The people see through it all and will give you a proper lesson at the ballot box.”
With Bihar Assembly polls on the horizon, these attacks highlight how job creation in Bihar and youth empowerment are dominating the campaign. Tensions are rising between the opposition RJD and the ruling NDA alliance of JD-U and BJP, as voters weigh their options on unemployment and governance.
