In Pakistan’s Punjab province, police from the Crime Control Department clashed with suspected robbers in five separate shootouts on October 1, leaving at least 10 criminals dead, according to ARY News.
The action kicked off near the Karto shop on Muridke-Narowal Road in Sheikhupura district. A gang of robbers targeted a passerby, but the CCD team rushed in and exchanged fire. Five suspects died in the intense gun battle. Officials say this group had a history of robberies, murders, kidnappings—and even the killing of a woman.
Next, in Basti Chhaju Shah near Shujabad, officers at a checkpoint spotted a robber and opened fire. The suspect, Muhammad Hussain, got shot by his own partner, who fled the scene. The CCD confirmed Hussain’s involvement in local crimes.
Over in Lahore’s Factory area, things heated up during a police transport. Two criminals, Nafees and Salman, rode in a CCD vehicle heading to Walton Road for evidence recovery. Their accomplices ambushed the team, sparking a fierce shootout that killed both suspects.
In Mailsi, near Allah Jeem, four armed robbers attacked a patrolling CCD van with gunfire. One of them, Zahid Iqbal, took a fatal hit from his own crew members and died. Police noted Iqbal was a wanted man in five murder cases plus multiple robberies.
The final clash unfolded in Multan’s Tawakkal town, where robber Naveed Hussain traded shots with the CCD team and didn’t make it out alive.
These encounters highlight ongoing police efforts to tackle robbery and violent crime across Punjab, Pakistan. ()
